The Golden Rule of Respect—Treat others better than you want to be treated! On March 31, 2012, TCRS had TWO HUNDRED marchers participate in the March for Respect at John Dam Plaza in Richland, Washington. There were over 700 marchers demonstrating that everyone deserves respect no matter their disability or ability.

The most important thing to remember is taking the respect from the march and incorporating it into every day. Here are a few things we can do to respect every one that enters into our life.

  • Treat others with kindness and politeness.
  • Be a good listener and a considerate speaker.
  • Be friendly.
  • Overcome your prejudices.
  • Praise someone more than you criticize them.
  • Be Helpful.

The final key to showing respect comes from the words song by Aretha Franklin “R-E-S-P-E-C-T---Find out what it means to me.”
